When it comes to charity at Pipestone, we believe in giving the “three T’s”; time, talent, and treasure. For a business, writing a check can be easy, but the time and talent are harder to give. This past month, Pipestone employees brought their time and talent to the Banquet in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. The Banquet’s mission is to equip volunteers to provide food, fellowship, and nourishment for those in need in the Sioux Falls area. The Banquet serves over 150,000 meals a year with over 21,000 of those being served to children under age 12.
Twenty hard working Pipestone staff members showed up at 5:30 in the morning and got put to work – cracking eggs, cooking bacon, and prepping the banquet hall. Before we knew it, there was a long line out the door at 7:00 a.m. Dr. Spencer Wayne led the group with a devotion and prayer, and the doors were opened!
Staff members served the meal, washed the dishes, and sent those in need home with extra food such as bread and muffins to help get them through the week. What a humbling opportunity!
That morning, Pipestone staff served over 240 people breakfast, around 40 of those being children. In addition, Pipestone donated $5,000 to help the Banquet keep serving those in need.
