Born in Maracay, Venezuela and growing up between his grandfathers livestock farm and the pork packing plant his dad worked at, JP graduated from Veterinarian School at the Central University of Venezuela (UCV) in 2000. JP completed a PhD in infectious diseases at the University of Minnesota in 2007 advised by Dr.’s Scott Dee and Carlos Pijoan. Working as a swine practitioner and faculty (UCV) for nine years in South America, he started at Boehringer Ingelheim Vetmedica in the Area Solutions Team and then lead the Professional Swine Veterinarian Team for the US.

He joined PIC in 2014 to lead the Health Team for North and Latin America and completed the Executive Veterinary Program Diplomate at the University of Illinois in 2016. Currently, Jean Paul is responsible for Health in Latin America and Health Assurance of Pipestone Management.
Jean Paul and his wife Maria Jose Clavijo live in Hendersonville, TN with their children Tomas and Manuela.
